Alcohol/Drug Substance Abuse Course (ADSAC)

This course is an interactive education course to help individuals examine and change the high risk behavior that resulted in the course being recommended or ordered.

Oklahoma law requires completion of this course by all first-time offenders of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving While Impaired (DWI), or persons convicted of any alcohol or other drug-related misdemeanor or felony.

Participants learn about the risks and consequences of alcohol and other drug use and abuse. They also look at how their own use of alcohol or other drugs affects their physical health, driving, family and community. Participants are provided with information and support to help them develop a Personal Change Plan to avoid future problems with alcohol, other drugs and impaired driving.

The fee for the course is $150 and is set by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. All course work, sessions and costs related to the 10-hour ADSAC must be completed within sixty (60) days of the date of the first course session attended for the issuance of a Certificate of Completion. Failure to complete all course work, attend all sessions and pay all related fees within the sixty (60) days shall result in the loss of all course credit and all monies paid. Re-enrollment in either the same or a different 10-hour ADSAC course following failure to complete the original 10-hour ADSAC course within the stated time limit shall require completion of all new course work, full attendance in the new course and payment in full of all fees related to the new course prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Completion.

Level I (10-Hour)

Participants learn about the risks and consequences of alcohol and other drug use and abuse. They also look at how their own use of alcohol or other drugs affects their physical health, driving, family and community. They also have the opportunity to learn and apply coping strategies for healthy living. Participants are provided with information and support to help them develop a Personal Change Plan to avoid future problems with alcohol, other drugs and impaired driving. This course is provided in 12 sessions, two nights per week, two hours per session over the course of six weeks.

The fee for the course is $360 and is set by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. All course work, sessions and costs related to the 24-hour ADSAC must be completed within one hundred eighty (180) days of the date of the first course session attended for the issuance of a Certificate of Completion. Failure to complete all course work, attend all sessions and pay all related fees within the one hundred eighty (180) days shall result in the loss of all course credit and all monies paid. Re-enrollment in either the same or a different 24-hour ADSAC course following failure to complete the original 24-hour ADSAC course within the stated time limit shall require completion of all new course work, full attendance in the new course and payment in full of all fees related to the new course prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Completion.
